David Beckham appears to be going retro in Miami.

The British international is reportedly kicking around the idea of naming his MLS club the "Miami Vice" and is going with an aqua, pink and gray color scheme that would fit nicely in the closet of Crockett or Tubbs.

Miami Vice is one of a handful of names being considered by Beckham's ownership group - the others being the "Miami Current" and another option that incorporates the name of a sponsor - the Palm Beach Post reported on Wednesday.

In mock-ups of the logos presented to local government officials and potential investors, the aqua "M" sits above a gray "V" with a soccer ball going through a goal-shaped opening between the two letters. Below the logo is "MIAMI VICE" in aqua and pink, respectively.

Another mock-up shows a model in aqua boots, gray socks and shorts and an aqua jersey with pinkish stripes on the shorts and around the neck and arms of the jersey. Alongside the model is the message "Welcome home soccer ," a nod to professional soccer returning to the area for the first time since 2001.

While the Post points out that the modeled kit and logo are likely first drafts, the paper reports that the throwback color scheme is here to stay.

But while fans of soccer and '80s television seem to be embracing the name, Beckham's publicist Simon Oliviera slammed the Post story as "hogwash" on Twitter, saying that "not one part of (the story) is true."

While the two sides duke this one out, maybe Jan Hammer can get working on a fight song for Beckham's club. You know, just in case.
