Three months after super typhoon Yolanda ravaged Central Visayas, international football icon David Beckham visited Tacloban City, one of the areas worst hit by the storm.

Beckham, a UNICEF Ambassador, visited the city to provide hope to survivors and support them, according to a report from GMA's "Balita Pilipinas" program on Thursday.

His flight arrived at the city airport around 1 p.m. on Thursday, the report added.

Beckham was also accompanied by UNICEF officers.

They first visited children in the Tacloban Convention Center, where some evacuees continue to live after the tragedy.

Meanwhile, the Department of Tourism through its Twitter account warmly welcomed the football superstar.

Welcome to the Philippines, David Beckham! Have a safe trip to Tacloban and thank you for helping us. #PHthankyou - Dept. of Tourism, PH (@TourismPHL) February 13, 2014
