David and Victoria Beckham will be rivals in the menswear market

Superstar couple Victoria Beckham and husband David are going to war in the mens' fashion business, Confidenti@l has learned.

Retired soccer legend David is lining up a menswear range worldwide - just weeks after pop star-turned-designer Victoria announced she is launching a line of posh clothes for guys.

We hear David, 38, is closing in on a deal with top Hong Kong clothing distributor Li & Fung to produce a range of casual wear, while Posh is already working on menswear for her VB label.

"David is at the moment the hottest property in fashion. His success with H&M has been a huge hit, so it's no surprise that Li & Fung want him to work in high-end fashion," a source said. "They have the reach and the budget to bring him in to work on clothes ranges - $20 million for a signing-on fee is nothing to a billion-dollar retail giant."

In addition to H&M, David has clothes deals with Adidas and the British luxury brand Belstaff.

Husband and wife will go head to head as early as next year to try and win over high-spending men.

Their rivalry presumably means Posh won't be using David in his part-time role of mannequin. "Once David signs his deal, it will likely include a noncompete clause, so Victoria will not be able to use David to model her clothes," our source added.

Both husband and wife are proud of their sales and international appeal in the fashion world.

Becks' $10 million underwear deal has made H&M five times that sum while delivering global PR worth 10 times the fee. Becks has vowed to stay with the Swedish fashion chain for the "long term," with his clothing range there expanding.

His Belstaff deal, meanwhile, has prompted a boost in sales for that company.

Posh has transformed herself into one of the world's most desired A-list designers with actresses clamoring to wear her gowns during awards season. We were first to report in September that Posh was going to open a New York City HQ in Chelsea.

It is expected that with the expansion of Posh and Becks' businesses, their fortunes could topple $200 million each next year.
